Beverly, Massachusetts, a high school will launch a new program for every student with a brand new MacBook laptop. Although similar projects are not uncommon, but Beverly schools require parents to prepay the charges or select a lease purchase program, a monthly fee ranging from 20 to 25 dollars, eligible families receive financial assistance.
Since the project will exclude Windows system machine, students who has already had a laptop still have to buy a Mac laptop, so some parents are very distressed. Project Leader James Hayes said the school will only use a platform that is Mac.
Jenn Parisella, his daughter had already bought a Dell, said: "There is no mistake, she already has a laptop, why do I still have to buy for her?"
It is located about 1,200 registered students in the school, said, such as free laptop at a cost of more than one million U.S. dollars. There are other schools to use state funds of funds and social assistance to solve the problem, but the Massachusetts allegedly cut the funding of science and technology projects, so schools need to shift the financial burden to parents.
